I ventured up this 4340 footer in May of 1998. From a small parking lot on the side of the Kankamangus Highway, I took the Greely Ponds Trail (a nice hike even for those who don't want to climb the mountain) up to the Mt. Osceola trail. This trail is steep and should not be attempted by novice hikers. It first arrives at East Osceola which is officially recognized as a 4,156 foot summit. Interestingly, the summit is below the tree line, so it's easy to miss. The trail descends a bit and then goes up to the cliff-like summit of Osceola. From here, you get a splendid view of Waterville Valley.
