In July 2000, I went on my first missions trip. We took our youth group to Athens, Greece to help Glyfada Christian Center prepare their building for the fall term. The GCC is both a church and a school that ministers to refugee families. Our gracious hosts, Gail Stathis and Brian VanDeventer gave us plenty of time to sightsee, shop, and enjoy the Greek sunshine. It was truly a trip to remember.

It was a great trip. We worked hard, we enjoyed great weather, beautiful scenery, amazing historical artifacts, and... we ate WELL! The daily timetable in Greece is extremely different from the U.S.. They start working late morning, take a siesta around 2:00PM, and then return to work until 7ish. Many restaurants don't open until 9:00 and the nightlife doesn't really start up till around 11:00.

We were fortunate enough to take a 3 island cruise. The weather was spectacular and the water was beautiful.
