Nimrod's Fortress
"These people had way too much time on their hands!" said Bob, one of my fellow travelers about the men who designed and built Nimrod's Fortress.
The fortress certainly is an elaborate stone fort with many stairways and passages. It was built in the northern Golan Heights during the crusader era. It commands exceptional views all around and served as a strategic outlook onto the road to Damascus. The road that ascends to the fortress is steep and narrow and we saw from the metal carnage in the valley that some bus drivers don't have what it takes to reach the fortress. Thankfully ours did!
